Linton Strip Pits

I am planning on going down to thte strip pits next weekend (28th-30th). I was wondering if anyone has been down there who can give me any information. I am at least hoping the gills or crappies are biting. I am taking a friend with his 8 year old son. So I am hoping to get him into some fish. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

RE: Linton Strip Pits

I fish down there frequently. Normally in the spring however. Most if not all of the lakes with good accessibilty will be CLEAR as gin.

I normally do very well in a small quiet boat (10' BassHunter) and weightless plastics for Largemouth(Sqworm Sticks, Senkos, etc)

Not sure how the fall bite will be, but there are definitely Bluegill, Largemouth and Trout for the taking.

Good Luck,
WAR

LAST EDITED ON Oct-24-05 AT 06:18AM (EST)[p]This time of year, redear can be easily taken with just a small sinker about 1' above a No.4 eagle claw hook. Use small nightcrawlers or buy those "panfish" worms at Wallymart.

Try Wampler, Graveyard and Bass lakes.

Don't be afraid to try the smaller ponds either. A lot of bucket biologists cross stock all the ponds in the area.

Wampler and Graveyard hold nice channel cats too.

Smile First Time to Linton

A friend and I are driving to Linton Saturday morning (July 2). Never fished the area before. Would appreciate some tips on how to fish the pits.

Not necessarily fishing for bass. Would be happy o bring home some nice bluegills & crappie.

Thanks

launching a Pro Team 175

I fished Moss Lake with a friend last Saturday. Lots of work with Pro Team. Would like to find a lake with a better ramp and not so much undergrowth. Planning on bringing a friend over this next week.

Thanks

Since someone brought this old thread back... I'm heading up to Greene-Sullivan this weekend to do some fishing. I'm from Louisville and have never been up that way. I primarily bass fish, so any tips on where to find them would be great! Don't have to give away your secret hot spots, but maybe some general tips and info.

And a quick question... I've read that some lakes/pits are walk-in only. We are bringing kayaks, so does that mean we can't carry them back in there if there is a trail?

No you can use your kayaks. You should check out the Old School Trading Post. It is a bait and fishing supply store located west of Linton about 3 miles in the state forest. it has the latest fishing happenings. 812-847-2333

usually the strip pits are fairly clear. I don't know what all this rain has done to them. It will help some and hurt others. I plan on being on Bass lake Sunday.
