If the weather stays decent, I'm planning on going to Lake Erie this weekend. Anyone want to come along? Leave Indianapolis area Friday afternoon/early evening. Fish Saturday and Sunday. Get back home to Indianapolis early Sunday approx 8 pm.
Cost as follows:
Tow vehicle gas $65
(600 mi RT, 12 mpg-pulling the boat, @ $2.50/gal)
Hotel $75
(two nights @ $75/night)
Boat gas $25
Cost to you $165
Plus food, drinks, license, gear, etc.
I have an 18' center console boat with a 150hp motor, 15 hp kicker, two electric trolling motors. Not state of the art, but enough to get out to the reefs and back SAFELY. Bring your own gear. I expect to cast for smallmouth but may try trolling crankbaits for walleye.

Thanks kistler. According to the NOAA report, today looks like a bad day to be there. It's supposed to shape up tomorrow and Saturday, but it looks like rain Sunday. It might be a better bet to try to get there to fish tomorrow and Saturday. If it looks bad when I get there, I just won't go out. Wouldn't be the first time I've pulled the boat all the way there, spent nights in a hotel and got to fish for a few hours or not at all.
You might be able to fish the harbors or the bays. The water clarity will be pretty stained with all the wanve action later.
Yesterday wasn't bad to be out. Got a little nasty in the afternoon. NOAA said 1-3 ft, same for today.
