I drove over to bluegrass this afternoon just to look around. Saw a new sign on the bulletin board in the parking lot at Bluegrass Pit South Launch ramp and parking lot.
Seems that the IDNR may have stocked this pit with Muskie or is about ready to stock it with Muskie.
There sign is there to state the minimum size limit of 36" for Muskie.
I was thinking that IDNR was not seriously thinking of putting these big fish in this lake but they did a survey a couple of different years and asked the people that were fishing here if they wanted Muskie Stocked in these pits. So I guess they are going though with this stocking program.
Now when I am fishing for crappie I'll have to make sure that my poles don't get drug into the lake if I am not holding onto them
I have some 6" long plugs that are Muskie Baits. We used them up in Ontario Canada on Eagle Lake back many years ago. Most of these baits are brand new and have never been used. That's going to change in a few more weeks. LOL I'll have to start trolling for big muskie.
Imagine trolling and catching a trophy Muskie in Southern IN. That would be nice.
BTW: You duck hunters have a few hundred mallards sitting in the refuge this evening. Monday is the next duck hunting day. I wonder if those ducks fly out over Otter Pit? A blind set up at the very North end of Otter Pit may see some action of the birds in Loon Pit fly to the south. But they will probaby be too smart for that and fly north instead. The ducks and geese have great eyesight.
I saw that the three deer carcauses that were along the side of the road had been scattered around in the field. Looks like the coyotes or foxes finally found those deer bones and skins and have been feeding on them. Saw a dog print in the mud next to the ditch next to the road. Probably a coyote.

New Motor Regulations on Bluegrass Fish and Wildlife Area's Bluegrass, Loon and Otter Pits. Starting Jan 1st 2007 any size gas motor is allowed. There is a no wake idle speed limit in effect now.
This should allow us to slow troll for fish this year.
I hope that everyone obeys the new speed limit.
