We are coming to guntersville in mid April and thinking about trying Smith Lake for some spots. Any advice on the spots.

    RE: Smith lake spots

There are plenty of 3-5 pound spots in Guntersville that are willing to bite that time of year. Fish bridges and rip rap around the bridges for them. Of coursr they are a different strain of spots that Smith Lake has. Smith Lake spots are long and lean with distinct markings, while Guntersville spots are footballs with a mostly green hue. Both species are great fighters. I'm not much of an authority on smith Lake spots ... except for fishing in the Sipsey River Wilderness Area, on the upper part of Smith.
