Boat Motor Problem

I have a 68 Johnson - 6 HP. It runs but I have to keep the choke out.

Is there anyone that knows a mechanic in the Louisville area that may work on this?

I also have one other thing on the boat to fix; it is the catch that allows me to lift the motor forward. The motor is fixed down.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Sounds like a low idle jet on the carb.Try Just add water on dixie hwy.

Email me. A good friend of mine does motor work and I have yet seen him NOT be able to fix something like this.
