    Break in Rebuilt Outboard

    Does anyone have a website that showes the best way to break in a 150hp Mercury xr4.

    none that i know of ask matt plapp for sure but here goes if you just need the info.mix 1st tank 50-1 with the oil injection too.first few hours vary throttle graduating up to 4000rpm,next couple hours vary it up to 5000 or so then on up not holding any rpm for long period.
    stop and start from idle up every 20 mins or so.after about 8 hours or so rev er up to top end and back off and back up then it should be good to go.that's what the directions for my dads xr4 is,wrote on the owners manual by the dealer.

    got to the BBC boards section and then down to the mercury engines forum. the guys that run this are unbelievable. they'll lay it out step by step for you. give them a try they are a wealth of knowledge man.
