    RE: Ohio River Sauger Bite?

I have been really catch some nice ones. Averaging 75 to 100 a day. Really haiving to sort thru the littles ones. I prefer to use the jigging spoons, I do use minnows when the bite is slow. The river had been perfect until this last rain. Now we need to wait it out a few more days. I fish below Meldah dam. I will be in a Silver and gray Nitro with a big black lab as a fishing partner 99% of the time. If you see me down there pull up and say hey.
    Good luck!

    Fish_Myster,
I will be in a white with a red stripe 16' Hydrasport Bassboat. I need to get down there again. Do you put in at Foster ramp? I too like jigging spoons. What area are you have your best luck? How deep of water are you catching them? Do you use a jighead with the minnows?
    Thanks for the update.

I use a new ramp in Neville Ohio off of SR 52. It's a very nice ramp and free to boot. I fish the wall in 25 ft of water and when it slowws down I move over to the Kentucky side all the way up to the danger bouy and drift fish down current inbetween the two eddies. 25 to 30 ft of water. I use the swedish pimple but have been known to change up to a jighead tipped with minnows. I catch the bigger fish on the spoons though. The river is up and rolling today, but should be back in fishing shape by the middle of next week.
Have fun and be careful with the dinks on release, they are our future catches. Have been catching a mix too, sauger, saugeyes and a few walleyes.
See you on the river sometime,

Never heard of a swedish pimple. Where can I find them and what color and size for the river? I believe I have seen you on the river below the dam on occasions. If I see you, I will stop by and say hi. I put in on the Ky side, cause I live in Ky.
    Thanks for the info.

I pick them up off the internet. The best prices is from a bait shop up north in Mich. It'd called, franksgreatoutdoors.com; this is a common jigging spoon up north in cold water. it's a three sided spoon(solid)They come in every color you can think of. I like the silver. It has little pieces of red and yellow plastic to add to the snap ring for added flash. I have all sorts. Some days the gold one others the copper, They also come with red, green refective stickers on them to help out. The size depends on the current. Most of the time #5 (3 1/2")I just looked at the river forecast it is looking real ugly. Supposed to get to 44 ft by Tuesday. Not good to fish for awhile. Dang the luck.
Have you been seeing any shad up the KY creeks? I love to use them.
Nice to meet you and hope to see you catching fish on the river soon,
