RE: District 87 American Bass Anglers 2005 season (ABA)

Just back from this year's nationals at Wheeler Lake and WOW! This was the best run national tournament that I have every been in. 306 boats, 612 anglers took off 3 days in a row with out a hitch. Looking forward to next years. Next years national will be in Shreveport, LA Red River.
There are some big changes coming for the 2006 season. Here is some of the news from the directors meetings.
These are not set in stone, but are close to being final.
    1. The set up of 2 regionals, North and South 500 anglers compete in each region.
    2. The top 125 anglers from each region will compete in the nationals. You must bring an observer to this as it will be all boaters. That just means that you will no longer be competing with the guy in the back of the boat at the nationals. (This is real big news).
They will give away a Triton TR-21 to each of the region winners as well as the national winner. They are also giving away (draw) 3 TR18 to one of the competitors in each of the regionals as well as the nationals. This is a total of 6 fully rigged boats.

    Other news from the nationals.
The American Bass Anglers has more members that compete then:
All of the FLW, Everstart, BFL, and B.A.S.S. as well as the Federations, COMBINED!!!

In 2006 there are 104 districts with over 800 tournamets.
For more information check out the website www.americanbassanglers.com or you may call me @ 859-333-8005.

Hope too see you at one of our tournaments soon.

Does fishing the boater side of Everstarts qualify as a pro or is this allowed?

The rules state that anyone who has fished as a por or in a pro/am with the entry fee is in excess of $525.00 in the past 6 months is not eligible to fish the ABA.
I'm not sure what the entry fee is for the boater side of Everstart.
    Hope this answers your question.

I'm on the way to the Nationals at Wheeler Lake tonight.
When I return I will have the national flyers and will be getting them out to a local sporting goods store near you. If you would like one and can not find any, please let me know.
For those that have stores that would like to have some, let me know.
Looking forward to the 2005 season and next years nationals.

RE: District 87 American Bass Anglers 2005 season (ABA)

I just signed up for the ABA and was wondering how to get a copy of the rules/regs. I take it all of these are day tournaments? Looks like fun at times I can go. Friday night tournys are too hard to get to when you work as much as I do.
Any other general info would be great. Like whats the average turnout. etc....

    thks

RE: District 87 American Bass Anglers 2005 season (ABA)

Last year was the first year for the 87 District on average we probably had 10-15 anglers per tourney, we are hoping to grow alot for next year, im sure all the guys will be glad to have you. If you have any other questions i would email george salov the director and you can get his email from the website just click on find a tourney then the CKY area and it will link you to our division and all the info you need. Ask away on any other questions you have and i will answer them.
