The 2008 season on Green River Lake got off to a cold start Saturday March 29th. With the morning lows in the upper 30's and a chilly north breeze, 15 teams took to the water to try to find their fish. Despite the cold weather and stained water conditions, several teams managed to bring good weights to the scale.

The big fish honors went to Buddie Ford and Steve Erickson who brought a monster 6.26 pound largemouth to the scale. They caught it on the main lake, fishing a small crankbait.

The team of Barnes and Barnes won the tournament with four fish weighing 14.06 pounds. Along with the four bass, anchored by a beautiful 5 pound smallmouth, they said they hooked into a couple of muskies as well. One of those muskies was at least 25 pounds, and "As big around as my leg" according to Dave Barnes. The fish were all caught on crankbaits in the back of a large creek where they found some clearer water.

Second place went to the team of Edmonds and Carpenter who brought in 5 largemouth weighing 13.46 pounds. Third place went to Blackwell and rice, last year's division points champions. They brought in a nice 12.94 pound limit.

Our next event will be on Saturday, April 26th. As with all our tournaments, we will launch at safe light from Ramp #1. It's not too late to start getting your points to qualify for the regionals. April's tournament promisses to at least be warmer that the March event. We look forward to seeing everyone again as well as a few new faces, hopefully.
