I wouldn't be using a good gun to drive nails with unless it was an emergency. You would be a whole lot better off to buy a hammer and save the gun for hunting.
so true but it is alot faster and not so hard on the hand
I'm up here in the un gun friendly state of Illinois where only Coyote can be hunted with high power rifles but I am a shooter and a hunter myself and I agree the Winchester 30/30 is a fine piece of equipment to take down a deer. However if you want a good cheap firearm you might want to consider an AK-47. The amo is cheap, you can pick up a used AK-47 for a good low price and you can drive nails with stock or butt of an AK-47 and you wont hurt it a bit.
Oh but if you do decide to drive nails with the stock or butt please make sure the clip is out and the chamber is clear.
It all depends on the terrain you will be hunting. If you hunt in thick woods it's hard to beat a .30-30 Winchester, but if you are hunting in an area where a shot over 100 yards is likely I would go with calibers like the .270 Winchester, 25-06 Remington, or a .30-06 Springfield. Just check around at local gun shops, you can find reasonably priced new guns, and used guns that are in good condition at great prices.
