    depth finders

Need advice on what unit to replace an Lowrance X-65. The problem is the old unit is an in-dash unit. It fits in between the tach and speedometer. There is absolutely no room on either side of the unit. The new units like the LMS 480 or Eagle equivalent is too large. The only units that I have found to fit is the 300 series of Hummingbirds or possibly the Garmin line. The Lowrance people that I called were not able to help me. Any advice or suggestions.

PS I don't want to drill or mount on the side.

    Thanks,
    Good Fishing

I had the old x-85 and replaced it with a x-135 the same size as the X65. I would go cheaper though next time as really deep water capability is not needed, and the cheaper stuff does the same job for freshwater.

What about repairing what you have. LEI should still have a flat rate repair policy. Like $67 or something. If you change units you may have to change connectors or get adapters. Some X65 and X75 show up on ebay from time to time.
