I have a 1984 Johnson 50 and my starter kicked the bucket.
Anyone have any tips on how to get a new one, or my old one fixed at a reasonable price?
I was told $200 or more for a new one, but was hoping I could stumble onto a better deal than that.
Thank you!

You could try Koger Marine if you wanted a good used starter at a bargain price. They might also have a rebuilt one. I got one for my 74 40hp Johnson for 50.00. They are near Lake Cumberland and the phone no. is 606-348-0164. Ask for Rick.
take it off and take it to auto store and see if they can match it up that is what a friend of my did and saved a bunch good luck diffently worth trying
Thank you all for responding. That was certainly a big help.
I will start to call around to these businesses and see what can be arranged.
