I don't know about small mouth but you could take him to Cox's Park. The small mouth fishing is not very good at all in the river. Somebody may know better than me, but the small mouth bite is very few and far between. Good luck.

I live in East Louisville and I am looking for a place close by where I can teach my 7 year old to fish for small mouth. I drove around all day yesterday looking for a place to get on the bank of Harrods Creek but it seems it is all subdivisions or Golf Courses. Anyone know of a place I can get to the bank? E-mail me off-list if you like. Thanks

LAST EDITED ON Apr-11-06 AT 11:33AM (EST)[p]I've taken my kids to Fisherman's Park (just south of J-town) a few times and it isn't too far. Caught bluegill and a little largemouth there last Friday before the storms came in. HINT: Watch out for the dog poo - it's everywhere out there!
Ooops: didn't see where you mentioned smallmouths... sorry!
