MoonLite LED Blacklights???

Anybody have one of the new MoonLite LED Blacklights? In particular I am looking at the Full Moon, Cordless. I currently have a Stan Sloan double decker with blacklight & white light which is cordless. Works fine just wondering if these are superior in performance. As I understand it, they have a premium 12v LED Ultraviolet Light and the Full Moon version comes with 3 Blacklights and 1 Whitelight LED as well as a cordless type plug-in. Any advantages or disadvantages would be greatly appreciated.

There was a nice product comparison and review done on the BBC (Bass Boat Central) web site under product reviews. You might check it out.

Good Luck

I don't have one, but a friend of mine has one of the Nucli-Eye Black Light and loves it. They are $250.00 but he is a Doctor and buys what he wants. I have not seen the one you are talking about till I looked it up just a minute ago. My concern is how long will the bulbs really last, rated for 20,000 hours. If one goes out they can not be replaced, my only concern or I would already have one. Not much help but do know the Nucli-Eye Extreme UV LED Fishing Black Light works great.

LED's (light emitting diodes) are very reliable in general. That wouldn't be a concern to me.

I have two of the phone jack ones. I had two Stan Slones before.
You only need one full moon to light up the whole side of your boat. i should have only gotten one,but now i light up about 50 feet of the bank, as I go down it. Mine were $149 each. I bought mine from WES at Anglers Outpost in Nicholasville. I would buy them again,in a heart beat. They are very compact and easy to store. According to the size of your boat you may only need a half moon or if you have a 20foot boat, the full moon is the way to go. If you do buy them , you will not be disapointed. They were the best purchase that I have made in awhile.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-22-06 AT 11:06AM (EST)[p]You can tone down the amout of light just by adding a small amount of window tinting !!! Also these lights work great with one difference !!! There are black spots between the diodes and it will freak you out when you are moving your rod side to side . It creates quite a lite show......

Thanks for the feedback. The stan sloans work fine but take up lots of room in the boat. I will have to check them out. Thanks again.

That is exactly what it does. Some people think the big ones put out too much light ,thus the tiniting to reduce the amount

I was referring to the lite show or something unusual you said it would do.

RE: MoonLite LED Blacklights???

Looking to get one for mt partner who has a 21 ft boat. Looking to go with the full moon version but some say that it put out to much light and that the half moon won't put out enough for both guys on the boat. Can these be adjusted and toned down and if so how? The guy at the shop so it couldn't but also said he had never used them, just going off reports. Any help will be appreciated.

RE: MoonLite LED Blacklights???

That is from the diodes shining straight out ( the tinting has no bearing on that ) .They have a dark spot in between them so if you are moving your rod from side to side your line passes thru the light and then into a dark spot making it appear to flash on and off .Just wait until you use one you will see what i am talking about
