PLANNING A TRIP TO FLA IN LAST WEEK OF JANUARY. IS FISHING AT BIG TOHO AS GOOD AS OCOCHOBEE? AND ANYONE KNOW ANY PLACES TO RENT FOR A WEEK OR SO? THANKS.
Almost forgot, we stay at a place called Camp Mack. They have houses, travel trailers and campsites to rent.
I would assume so. I go every year the last week of January, but fish the lower end of the chain on Kissimmee. This past January we didn't catch as many fish as normal, but we caught better quality fish. We caught several in the 8 pound range, but our best one weighed in at 14 pounds 2 ounces.
I like toho better but both are good. I wonder if the "big o" has recovered from all the hurricanes over the last few years?
The main thing you hope for in fla at that time of year is a couple of warm days in a row(warming trend). Alot of people use shiners at this time of year as well.
I don't know of houses to rent down there but you could more than likely find a hotel in Kissimmee for toho. Good luck.
