    trolling motor battery

I'm in need of a battery for my trolling motor in my jon boat. I'm looking for a batter with a long life that I can recharge after a weekend out on the lake. However, I have no idea what type of battery I should be looking for.

Any suggestions would be helpful. So I'm looking for what type of battery and I guess any brand names that you've had success with. Thanks guys.

btw, this battery in question will only be used on my trolling motor and any night lights that I will be using...my boat engine is a pull start.

I buy the biggest everstart (yellow case)available at Walmart. Have had good luck with them. I now own 5 (3 in the bass boat and 2 in the cruiser). I think its about $62 with a core trade in.

I use Interstate, but may switch to Delco next based on all the other threads on this topic.

Look through the archives. There have been many, many of these threads, and one just a bit ago.

    Good luck,

    Danny

Kreyfish: I have used a duralast group 29 marine battery from Autozone with a 47 lb thrust TM in the past and had no problem with it holding up for a weekend. Good luck, Tom.

Thanks for the advice gentlemen...I did find a similar post and have also taken their recommendations as well. Seems that the AC Delco Voyager is a popular choice with many.

I know a little about a lot...but I'm still learning the ropes when it comes to boating needs. Thanks again fellas.

Whatever brand you get make sure it's a "Deep Cycle Marine" battery. They are made to be recharged over and over again. A regular battery will not stand up under constant recharging.....

I read the other day on hear about Trojan batteries. I bought a couple for the trolling motor but have not had a chance to try them out. I thing they are suppose to be pretty reliable, you might want to try them.
