Bates Guide Service is who I would use. Probably be downrigging at that time. Possibly some surface action.

Stripper or stripers. Jim just recently had guides for both LOL. See earlier post. I have considered getting a guide myself. Everyone that I have talked to has recommended Sasser's guide service. They say he is a class act and very knowledgable. I have been told that not only will you catch fish but he is very good on showing you the how to's. Good luck.

I have never used a guide on the lake, only the river. But if I were to consider using a guide on the lake I believe I would have to agree with APB and go with Bates Guide Service. You can go to their site and see all you want about costs, etc...plus just about everday day of the week they post new pictures. Judging from their website I'd say Bates seems to catch big stripers on a very regular and consistent basis.

I have used Nancy Guide Service owned by Tim Tarter and had a great day on C-Land. Not only caught good quality fish but left there with a good knowledge of striper fishing. Had a blast and would definetely recommend them.

I have used Nancy guide service 3 times and it's a first rate outfit. I didn't catch fish everytime but they put me on fish and I learned alot. The guides were very courteous and knowlegeable and made each trip fun. I highly recommend them.

Wanting to go Stripper fishing for the first time at Cumberland
around the end of Oct or 1st of Nov. Which would be best? Also wanted some info on a guide or guide service. All suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've tryed striper fishing several times on my own with no luck. Wanting to learn some tecniques from a guide to try later.

Randall Gibson, Bates, Sasser, Jim Durham, Bill King, all are good to excellent guides. If you need a place to stay I highly recommend the FishWolfCreek.com folks right below the dam.
2 Cabins, and a nice RV park and camp ground.
Thinking of having a Winter Float and Fly Get together there.

Miller Tallent out of Grider Hill is extremely consistent. Lance Sasser is also very good. I would recommend either. My parents went with Miller last week and had their limit by 7 am.

Gerald Bates is excellent, www.fishlakecumberland.com. I fished with him in 2003 and he still helps me out when I call him to find out how the fishing has been. Extremely knowledgeable and not afraid to share information. I asked a million questions during my 8 hour trip and he answered every one of them. I highly reccommend him.

After much research Bates is probably the one I'll go with if available. Has anyone ever used Sasser guide service?
