not sure about behind planer boards but i've always found the longest life comes from hooking them right through the lips, just don't go too far up, try to get it through the jaw bone

What's the best way to rig Shiners, Shad or even Suckers when pulling them behind planer boards? Not down rigers, just planer boards. Also, where's the best place to hook them at in order to get the longest life out of the bait and what size/style hooks work best?
Thanks for the info!!

Always use an inline swivel to make sure the shiner does not spin and cause line twist. I hook my shiners across the nostrel pretty much in one nose hole out the other. Had them live all day long being pulled behind boards hooked like this.
