Can live shad be purchased around the Jamestown area? It seems the striper prefer them to shiners.

Last place I knew of near Jamestown was Bandits, South of Jamestown Square headed to Jamestown Resort. But he sold the motel and bait shop, and has not opened his new bait shop. Bass Pro and Adams Gas Station don't sell shad. Occassionally, you might get shad at Lake Pointe Motel Bait House, but check there web page, and call in advance, cause they do so infrequently.
I know shad is hard to keep, lots of loss, and tough get stock, but sure wish it could be had. Also wish somebody in teh area would start stocking suckers. Come on guys, they are easy to keep, they are hardy. Lake Pounte used to sell by the pound, and ya could get some of those 8-10 inch suckers. Talk about catching some seriuos stripers! And ya can buy 12, and have them for a full 3 day fishing trip, cause ya can send them to 90 feet, when done at that area, de hook them, tote them in the live well for a couple hours and send them down again.
I'll check out Lake Pointe Motel Bait House; thanks.
I don't think I would buy any this time of the year, even if they sold them. They are too hard to keep and they do not do well on the hook if they are over stressed. At this time, it is much better to catch them yourself right before you use them.
