Just a little info for the Crankbait chunkers. Save your money on buying expensive extension poles and plug knockers when at the boat and tackle shows. I followed the recommendations from Vmaxx and other fisherman on here by getting the large tear drop sinkers and attaching a snap swivel to it so i could snap it onto the line when the crankbait is hung up and it works AWESOME. If one doesn't work send another down the line and jiggle that rod until it comes free. I purchased the 3-ounce and 4-ounce sinkers and have not lost a bait since. I tried it many times at Cedar Creek this fall with great success. Prior to that i was losing 6 dollar crankbaits way to often. Try it, this really works and is cheap. Nothing is perfect but this is the best so far in my opinion. :-)

Even worked at the same deep structure on Cedar that i had lost several DT10's at. Thanks again.
Where do you find sinkers that big, would Wally World have them?
Purchased mine at BPS in Indiana. I believe they have them bigger as well.

Here is something else you can try. Instead of keeping the line you use for the knocker wadded up in the bottom of the boat find an old baitcaster that you do not use any more and wind the line on it. When the time comes and you need the knocker just press the release on the reel and away she goes. Once the bait is unhung just wind the reel back up. It will save you a lot of tangles and messes.
I put my plug knocker on a black marker buoy and have it do double duty. I also put a piece of reflective tape on mine for those rainy overcast days but then I am old & near blind.....:-)
Great ideas, Guys! Thanks for sharing.
I found out about the big sinker & snap plug knocker technique about 3 years ago. It really works that's for sure. Whenever I'm fishing a Silver Buddy or Little George I keep a homemade plug knocker in my pocket. It will get your bait back 99% of the time! Well worth the $$$ to make them... The key is getting directly over top of the snagged lure before dropping the sinker/snap.
This method has no line attached, that's another benefit. All you do is send it down on it's own, get over the top of it and jiggle, pop or whatever it takes to break it free. If you lose one no big deal since they cost so little. I guess you could use a line if needed.... :-)
Great idea, since I have a couple extra reels that would come in handy for just this sort of thing....

I'm asuming then that you are attaching the sinker directly to your fishing line. If so does it do any damage to your line. Never thought of working it that way. Thanks for the idea.
