What is the best type anchor for a bass boat? What are you using as an anchor?

7:1 ratio (line length to depth)
10 feet deep, 70' of line is general rule.
maybe 5:1--set anchor and pull into to 5:1
regardless of type-maybe
mud bottom or sand, fluke anchor
Rock bottom you need a Henery Willenbrimk anchor (solid lead). Not available unless you know Henery. Will hold on a 1/8" rock ledge given proper scope if 7:1.
It's geometry.
Basically I guess I'm cheap-- I use two 1 gallon coffee cans filled with concrete with eye hooks in the top. Can also serve to keep a small dog tied off in the yard too!
Cobra190 - My dad use to make his own out of coffee cans too, except only he had a friend who owned a full service gas station and the owner would save all of the lead weights he took off of cars when ever he did a rotate and balance...Dad would melt the lead weights down and pour them in the coffee cans with an eye-bolt placed in the top portion. I'm pretty sure dad still has about a 5-gallon bucket full of these lead weights...No need to worry about anyone stealing a five gallon bucket of lead, haha...
See article above re: Cats in boat!!!
Can't be using the lead tire wieghts for anchors. That's what we melt down to pour fishing weights and jig heads. Oh! And for any PETA friendly folks out there, I stopped hooking the dog up to the anchors. He was pulling them around the back yard and really buffed up. Everyone started calling him Arnold Swartzasnauzer.
I love this site, you guys are killin me. (see cats post above)
