    st. johns river info

I'm going to be on the St. Johns River near Welaka near the end of May. Being my first time, can anyone give me some good advice on where to hook into some l.m. bass & stripers? And how best to catch them? Thanks for any tips anyone may have.

    RE: st. johns river info

It has been years since i fished it but i'll tell you how we caught the largemouth bass back then. Boats docks in the river that extend into deeper water worked very well with soft plastics. I would try a mix of them and figure out the real pattern. The mouth of the (Oklawaha?)river that joins the St. Johns was a good place to c-rig and even fish with spinnerbaits through the pads.
We also made a run to Lake George and caught fish in the (Salt River or springs?)it's the clear creek at the mouth on the north end. Firetiger crankbaits around the wood bumpers at the south end of Lake George was a great pattern. It has been 12 years since i was there so take this info with a grain of salt. Good luck. Don
