ID this fish caught in Florida...

    http://www.fishin.com/articles/wierdfish.htm

Check it out. I know there are a lot of exotics in Florida and some of you fish there a lot so I figure some scientist or fisherman can ID it for me.

RE: ID this fish caught in Florida...

Jim, I'm on the Ky board most of the time but couldn't sleep so i thought I'd look around, glad I did cause I can answer your question. That fish is a snakehead, probably it's a red snakehead, Chana micropeltes, it might not be that exact species but it is a snakehead, you can tell from the fused dorsal and anal fin and the eye spot close to the tail. These guys are bright orange when young but grow big and turn brown. I used to keep one in a baby pool in the basement when I bred fish, he was my garbage disposal. That is always my favorite part about going to Florida, I always take a day and hit the canals to fish. I've caught everything from tarpon to oscars. Ted
