Bad Things to Good People #3

Funny how my first post on this topic a couple of months ago was not moved but my last post on this topic a couple of weeks ago was moved to the "Off Topics" folder but there are other "Off Topic" post that are not moved from this folder. My bet is this will be moved also but here goes anyways:

My brother in law lost his battle with cancer last Thursday night. He went very peacefully and his entire family was with him when he passed. The services were very nice and my guess is that over 1,000 people showed up at the funeral home for the visitation that began at 4:30 and lasted until 10:45pm. I had friends that were in line over 3 hours. I wish to thank all those on this sight that have sent me private messages, personal emails and phone calls checking on his progress and mine. My wife also thanks you for she even posted under my name to the last thread on this topic that was moved to the "Off Topics" folder. Again, thanks for all the well wishes and support.

It seems to me many of us on this site would have not ever had the opportunity to meet one another if it were not for fishin.com. A new family of friends have developed for many on this site. Like any family when one member hurts we all hurt. Being able to pull together like this should give us all additional strength. There has been other prayer requests, etc. on this forum and I for one would be disappointed if this practice were discouraged.

God be with you and your family elnut. I lost my sister to cancer so I understand what all of you have been through.
And Mike, you are 100% right. If friends can't post things like this here then why have the board?

Real sorry for ur loss big guy. May God be with you and your family during these bad times.

We are all fishin buddies here met or not so if one of us has a loss like that i think it is ok to post it on here. Lets all be friends and share each others good times and bad times. I know it helps to speak out about the bad as well as the good.

Elnut, I was listening to this great song today and I thought of you. The guy who wrote it is Andrew Peterson, and it sounds like he was in about the same kind of spiritual place you are right now. It blessed and encouraged me and I hope it will you as well.

    The Silence of God
    From "Love & Thunder"
Words and music by Andrew Peterson

    It's enough to drive a man crazy; it'll break a man's faith
It's enough to make him wonder if he's ever been sane
When he's pleading for comfort from Thy staff and Thy rod
And the heaven's only answer is the silence of God

It'll shake a man's timbers when he loses his heart
When he has to remember what broke him apart
This yoke may be easy, but this burden is not
When the crying fields are frozen by the silence of God

And if a man has got to listen to the voices of the mob
Who are reeling in the throes of all the happiness they've got
When they tell you all their troubles have been nailed up to that cross
Then what about the times when even followers get lost?
'Cause we all get lost sometimes...

There's a statue of Jesus on a monastery knoll
In the hills of Kentucky, all quiet and cold
And He's kneeling in the garden, as silent as a Stone
All His friends are sleeping and He's weeping all alone

And the man of all sorrows, he never forgot
What sorrow is carried by the hearts that he bought
So when the questions dissolve into the silence of God
The aching may remain, but the breaking does not

The aching may remain, but the breaking does not
In the holy, lonesome echo of the silence of God

    God bless, Elnut.

    elwood,
real sorry for your families loss. I know it has been a tough year for you and your family and we will continue to send up prayers for you and yours. Just remember that we are always here for you anytime you need us even if it is in thoughts and prayers. Nothing wrong with caring and compassion for your fellow man even if it is on a fishin site for I feel that we all share a bond that is hard to find any where else. My best to you and yours.
