The gates have been closed a while, and we've had pretty good rains recently.

    Re: West Boggs

    Sorry for the delay guys.

On the water level, we did close the gates before the last rains, so that water was held. We are back up to about 3.5 feet below normal now, from a low point of about 7.5 feet below normal. Small boats may be able to get into the ramps, but large ones may want to wait a while longer. Also, there would only be about a foot of water in the tunnels, so crossing there will be touchy at best. There is a tournament scheduled on Saturday, so we'll see how that goes.

On the shad kill, it was hard to tell. There was a kill that was visible, but the facts that it happened under the ice and that there was a level increase while the ice was still there made it very hard to estimate the degree of kill. The gulls seemed happy, but my guess is that more fish went to the bottom than came to the top, for probably the catfish are getting fat more than the gulls.

Any of you guys who also bring the family here to camp, may want to check our website again. The site is undergoing a total reconstruction and should keep getting better this year. There is a new feature that allows online reservations, and a soon coming feature should give us a user generated fishing report. It will be filtered to keep it from being non-family friendly though. Any of you looking for a fishing home-away-from-home may also want to look at the new seasonal camping availability.

Just wanted to let you guys know that the first West Boggs tournament of the season was scheduled for today. Don't know yet how they did, but there were boats on the water; meaning that we can now assume launching is at least possible.

You can use 2 of the ramps, just be careful where you run at or you could be stuck. Out of 15 boats 3 of them had fish. There was only 4 fish weighed in.
