Doug Coulter & Todd Wilson win with 27.04 on Barren River Lake

Fishers of Men South Central Kentucky Division held the 4th tournament of the 2007 Season on April 14th. The Pre-Tournament meeting was held at First Freewill Baptist Church of Glasgow, KY, where all participants were served homemade chili, and grilled sausages provided by Professional Chef and Catering of London, KY. The evening message was delivered by FOM Angler Rick Brammer of Berea, KY, and 2 anglers renewed their commitment to the Lord.

Anglers were greeted once again with post cold front conditions, but Barren River Lake proved that it is one of the top fisheries in the country by producing not only numbers of fish, but amazing weights for such a pressured body of water.

Leading the way, with a divisional record of 5 fish weighing 27.04 lbs, Doug Coulter and Todd Wilson captured their first win of the season. The 2006 Points Champions anchored their catch with a 6.74 Largemouth and took home checks totaling 1325.00 for their effort. They were not available for details on their winning pattern. Doug and Todd are veteran FOM Anglers, and will represent the South Central Kentucky Division next month at the National Championship. Congratulations on a job well done, and good luck at the Nationals!

Finishing second, Lee Bishop and Marty Mullins took home checks totaling $780.00 for their 5 fish limit that tipped the scales at 21.78 lbs., and included the 2nd big fish of the tournament, weighing in at 5.71 lbs. Lee Bishop reported catching all of their fish on M&W Persuader Spinnerbaits, on channel walls and points. A pattern that has been proven to be very effective on pre-spawn fish after strong cold fronts at Barren River.

Dacker Combs and Densmore Goodson move into first place in the points race with their 3rd place finish. Their 20.88 lbs sack gave them a 12 point lead in the points, and one step closer to securing a spot at the 2007 National Championship. Combs and Goodson reported catching their fish on transition areas on the main lake, slow rolling a white Stan Sloan Aggravator spinnerbait. They were rewarded checks totaling $485.00 for their effort.

935 fish were brought to the scales, and 24 teams had a 5 fish limit.

I went over to the fom web page and looked at the results for the full field. All I can say is they put up some huge numbers. 10 pounds would have gotten 26th place in a 30 boat tournament. Fishing at Barren that weekend was on fire.
