Just rember this one thing. If it sounds to good to be true, it isn't!

I received an award winning notification saying I was one of the winners of the (Name deleted) Utilities draw. They issued me a check for $2,920.00 which they claim is the percentage surcharge to be paid as their commission to cover the charges/fees required to be paid prior to my receiving the winnings of $46,500.00USD. I was told to deposit the check. The letter came from Canada but the check was from an American bank and the company supposedly representing the drawing has a notice on its website that this is a scam and to send the letter and check to the Attorney General's office for investigation. Which is what I did.
I have heard of this type scam before. Once you deposit the check and send them your check, they have your bank account number and can clean out your bank account on top of getting the money that you had to put up to mail to them while you wait for their check to clear. When you think about it, it doesn't make any sense that they would send you a check to cover the money you are supposed to be paying them. The reason I deleted the names is because a google search shows that they are using several different company names.
Beware if you get something like this--IT IS A SCAM.
