Need Help - Fishing with a 6 year old

    Greetings all!!!

I'm not really new to fishing, but I haven't done much in recent years. Now my 6 year old is getting REALLY interested and I'm dusting off my gear. I've taken him twice, but his old man never was all that good at it and I continue to live up to that reputation.

Does anyone have some suggestions for from the bank spots, bait, and methods for showing the Lil Mutt a fun time? I'm thinking a good blue gill hole would be perfect or maybe even a nice crappie spot. We live in Knoxville but would be happy to drive to most any of the East Tennessee lakes.

We're not looking to rake in monster fish, he'd be tickled catching stuff that was almost too small to fit on the hook.

    Take care all!!!!

Take him to a Trout pond . It may cost you a couple of bucks . But It will give him some idea about fishing . Then find some docks that he might fish of for blue gills or Bass. I did my son that way any he is an avid fishermen and and loves to beat his old man at fishing .. YANK

I agree with Yank and better yet, take him to a pay Catfish pond or just to any pond that has catfish..... nothing better than seeing Little Muttling having a field day trying to bring in old "Whiskers" or old "Whiskers" trying to take Little Muttling water skiing :-) .......... tight lines....

Glad to hear you are getting your son into fishing.
Get yourself some blakemore Road Runners and take them to any farm pond and let him cast till his arm fall's off. Those little lures will allow him to catch bass, crappie and bluegill.

I'm very late in getting back, but I wanted to thank everyone for your suggestions. I have lil Mutt all weekend and will be looking for a good pond.
