Old Hickory

Hey guys, fished old hickory for the first time yesterday, had a great day with bream and crappies(this is my new favortie lake) my question is what is the water depth when you get out of the channel. I pretty much ran in the channel all day but saw a few bass boats running across all parts of the lake. It seem sthe bigger boats stay in the channel. I assume it is like any river system lake and there are shallow spots all over it. Is it safe to go flying across these unchanneled areas or am i just asking for trouble?

I wouldn't unless I knew where I was going. Get a map and check your areas prior to moving through them.
