    Lowrance X-52 Help....

I have an X-52 on the front of my boat and it hasn't showed a fish in the last two months

Besides the fact that I may not be over fish, that is not the main problem. The main problem is the fact that it will work fine for a while and then all of a sudden it will read 120' or 320' when it just read 18' a second ago. Now either I am hitting some heck of a drop offs or something is wrong.

I checked the wires and cleaned the transducer, but nothing seemed to help. Shutting the power off and turning it back on sometimes fixes it, but usually it takes about 3 minutes for it to start reading the correct depth.

Anyone know what might cause this or how I might go about getting it fixed? TIA.

are you running another finder at the same time?if so shut off the other one.if not it sounds like you may have an electrical interference problem that is causing erratic behavior.from trolling motor or something else electrical.and lastly it could be your transducer going bad or a bad wire in it.

    Re: Lowrance X-52 Help....

I am running the same unit on the console, but we tried turning it off and it didn't affect the performance (or lack of) on the front unit. I will give Linda a call this morning and see what she has to say.

On another board it was suggested to me to just swap the units and see if the front one will work with the console display. Makes perfect sense, it was just too obvious for me to think of . If it works up front, then it would more than likely be the transducer or a wire to it.

Thanks for your replies, I think I am on the right track now. fNn

roadrunner, I see I was in your neighborhood yesterday. I fished South Fork Lake there in Olney. Didn't do so well.
