I hear ya man. It's just easier for candidates to focus on one big issue, and in this case it's casino gambling. By focusing on one big issue, a candidate's position on other issues is overshadowed. I'm sure you can ask anyone about where a candidate stands on casinos, and they'll answer correctly...but if you ask them about education, state spending, etc., you'll get a whole lot of unsure answers. This is why every voter needs to do their research before voting...the only dangerous voter is an uninformed voter.
I would actually like to see casino gambling in Kentucky. The stuff "the good ole boy" shows on television is ridiculous. What he doesn't show are the improvements to the local area that comes with the casino. Improvements in roads and bridges are a result of the increase in funding available for those projects. If you want to see proof of it, take a ride into French Lick Indiana, or the entire county for that matter. New bridges are being installed, highways are being improved and repaired, all of which would not have been done without the financial boost of the local casino! The thing that makes me mad is that a good portion of that money comes not only from Indiana gamblers, but a large portion of Kentucky gamblers! Heck, Ceasars, and Belterra are just the same way! I just don't understand why people take such a stance against casinos, thinking that casinos are "evil." Casinos create jobs and revenue that didn't exist prior.
Just my opinion...
