During an annual drawing on October 2, 2007, officials at West Boggs Lake accepted applications and issued permits for 27 tournament events for the 2008 season. These events fill most of the available weekend dates for the lake during the spring and fall tournament opportunities at West Boggs. The full list of permitted tournaments will be posted on the westboggs.com website later in October.

Anglers who wish to fish tournaments at West Boggs in 2008 are encouraged to check the park’s website to see if the events they are considering are legal and permitted tournaments. Park Rangers will be increasing enforcement efforts for permit compliance in 2008, and anglers fishing illegal tournaments will now share responsibility with the organizers of those events.
Enforcement efforts will also include a possible cash reward for information that leads rangers to an illegal tournament in time to prevent it from taking place. Any angler that is invited to participate in a West Boggs tournament that does not show up on the website list is encouraged to call 812-295-3421 and report the information to Rangers. If your information is usable to stop the event, you will be eligible for the reward of up to $100. Your name will remain confidential and will not be revealed at any time. It is hoped that this reward program combined with punishing participants of illegal events along with the organizers will make turning in renegade tournament organizers become more profitable than fishing in their tournaments.
