I have never owned one, but a few of my buddies like them, say they make good rifles, at aleast .22 calibers.

As I've posted here on the community tackle board, I am looking for a lever action 357 mag. rifle. I have found a source to get a Marlin new rifle for around $400, but not too sure of the quality of the Marlin rifles. Just looking for some views good or bad.
Thank you!!!
Danny

Nothing wrong with a Marlin rifle. In my opinion as dependable as they get. I have a 336 in 30/30 and love it. I shoot with open iron sights and no scope. But I do remove the canopy from the the front sight.
Marlin rifles are very good guns. I was in Alaska for seven years, I carried the Marlin 45/70 guide gun for back up when bow hunting up there. It was a lever action, no problems feeding the big round. The 357 will shoot up to 100 yards easy with open sights. Good brush gun!!
Danny,
What is this rifle gonna be used for? The 1894C (checkered stock, round barrell)and the 1894 Cowboy (smooth stock, octagon barrell), come in 38sp./357 mag.
