    Tie up on navigation buoys

If you find a place where fish are marking, and want to sit on them, and there happens to be a no wake buoy right there, can you tie up to it to fish?
Does it make any difference if its an entrance to a marina, or on a lake, or on a river? What if its a red or green channel maker in the river?

We were at the dam at barren wearing out the hybrids one night and the wind was brutal. There are buoys we tied up to that say no boats past or something to that effect. Well we tied up to it and the wind pushed us away from the entry, so we were not past and patrol boat came over and said if we did not untie we would get a ticket because the buoys had to be in plain sight for others to see. I would assume that would go for any buoys. We did untie and anchored right there and continued to wear em out.

You will likely be ticketed if caught tied up to a navigation bouy. It's against the law. There were a bunch of boats in a cove waiting for tourney blast off, one boat decided to tie up to a bouy. He got a ticket right in front of everybody.
