The report is as follows:
The Kentucky South Central Division got off to early start as they kicked
off their 2008 season on November 2-3, as 39 teams gathered on Barren
River Lake. During the fall Barren River Lake is known to produce quality
sack, but this was not the case as fishing conditions were extremely
difficult for both the Friday practice and tournament on Saturday. Local
expert and lake guide Jesse Duncan said that this was the toughest he had
seen Barren in quite some time. Despite the blue bird skies, unstable
weather patter the week before, a fog delay, and the Corp pulling the
lake, Doug Coulter and Todd Wilson emerged as the winners weighing in 5
fish for a total of 11.02lbs receiving a check for $1449.00 which also
included first place in bonus bucks.

Coulter and Wilson, a team that is no stranger to first place reported
that fish were caught on a variety of lures from crank baits to jigs with
no real pattern being established. Other anglers reported the same
situation as other fish were caught off spinner baits, tubes, and shakey
heads. The location of the fish was just as sporadic as the lure of
choice. Fish were being caught on brush piles, off shore structure, drops,
flats - both shallow, deep, and anywhere in between. Big fish were almost
non existent, as only two fish exceeded the four pound mark with the
average fish weighing under two pounds.

Also rounding out the top 5 were Mike Devere and Jared Hembree who also
brought in a limit of 5 fish. Their total weight was 10.88lbs which was
enough to earn them second place and a check for $826.00 which also
included second place in bonus bucks. Third place went to John Carnes and
Kelley Dorman with a 5 fish limit weighing 10lbs, receiving a payout of
$623.00 including third place bonus bucks. Fourth place went to the
newcomers Adam Hook and Barrett Moss who joined us from Western Kentucky
University’s Bass Fishing Team. Hook and Moss had a 5 fish limit with a
total weight of 9.78lbs, earning them a check for $422.00. Closely
following with a weight of 9.73lbs for a five fish limit was Mike Harbour
and Jerry Thompson who brought home fifth place and $351.00.

One of the tournament highlights was the Friday night pre-tournament
meeting hosted by First Free Will Baptist Church in Glasgow. It was a
packed house as anglers were treated to a wonderful meal of soups,
sandwiches, and deserts. Pastor, and Kentucky West Director, Joel Franks
delivered the inspirational message for the night on being thankful and
all of the things we have to be thankful for. However, the real issue is
who are we thankful to? God is the giver and we must be thankful to Him
and He is so good, that He gave us eternal life through Jesus Christ. 2
people made first time professions of faith while 7 people recommitted
their lives to the Lord.
