I looked at one a while back and asked that same question. The way I understand it they were just one of the many companies that went under after 9/11.

From my understanding Spring was somewhat of a small production good quality boat company and at some point took on a partner with the idea of making the company bigger on a national level. With the new partner quality issues arose and the guy (co.) basically ran Sprint into the ground. With that said i'm not knocking on your boat, many people have them and like them very well.

they did go bankrupt due to hull problems,a cousin of mine had one and it totally seperated at the transom,as did one other i know of.they tried to cut corners to cut cost and it didn't work i guess.there are a lot of good ones out there though still being run hard.

    Re: Sprint boats

I was just curious as to what happened to them. I have had no problems with mine, everything has held up beautifuly. The hull has a lifetime warranty and is VERY thick. I was drilling phone jack blacklight switch holes when i noticed this. I used to have a nitro and the hull on my sprint is thicker than it it. well thanks guys for your imput.

Mine is a 99 Sprint 221 DC. Still running strong. Sure wish they didn't go out of business. Seems like somewhere around Nov-Dec. of 2001.

    Re: Sprint boats

Sprint "AKA Fibersport" was actually a product of OMC as its parent company. When OMC went under, It sealed Sprints fate and they went bankrupt. I had a 97 286 DC and loved the boat. It was not built as well as a Ranger or triton but for the money I liked it. These boats will really run. I sold mine last year and switched to a Triton.
The Problems you face with a sprint are.
    1: Poor seat quality.
    2. Skinny rod boxes.
3 steering cables freeze up too much if you are running a raker prop.

Not trying to be smart but what good is a lifetime warranty from a company that no longer exists? Is there a way to get warranty work done if you were to have problems?

    Re: Sprint boats

no warranty at all when they go belly up,just like omc,my hull has some stress cracks that were to be fixed under warranty,i waited because i didn't want to loose any fishin and there was no warranty. The buying companies did pick up some warranty work for some.
