Coming down the end of March, what line do you recommend?

I use 15# P-Line CXX in moss green color on my bait casting reels. It is considerably stronger than 20# Stren or Trilene. You can literally pull up stumps with the stuff. It's got some memory, which isn't a big problem with a bait casting reel, but it takes a real beast of a fish to break you off .... and then you have to thumb the spool to break it. This time of year I would not recommend spinning tackle or line lighter than 15# because your next bite could always be from a 10+ pound bass.

I use braid when the vegetation gets matted in the summer or fall. You won't find any mats this time of year. The 15# P-Line CXX probably has 25-30 pound breaking strength. I've played "tug of war" with 20# Stren extra strength and 20# Trilene XT ... and the 15# P-line breaks them every time.

    Re: Line?

I restrung all my spinning reels in the new Fireline Crystal, its supposed to be the most invisible braid, and compared to regular spiderwire (that i used to fish) it cast so smooth and alot farther. I just like braid because its gonna be less likely to break off than mono. If you've ever fished braided line, at least try this on one of ur poles. Spiderwire has some new kind out which is supposed to be pretty much the same.

    Re: Line?

This time of year most big G bass are caught on lipless cranks and jerk baits. Using a line with little or no stretch means you'll land very few of the fish you'll hook. This time of year using mono is a MUST! The only way I would use superline this time of year would be for fishing a jig 'n pig.
