Wheeler/Wilson info

Planning a trip to the Wheeler/wilson lakes in late april. Are the bass spawned out usually at this time? Is there as much vegetation as Guntersville?? Would I be able to catch fish fishing shallow. Any advice or comments would be appreciated....never been to these lakes before.

Late April will be post spawn. Wheeler has 1/100 th of the vegetation that Guntersville has .... Wilson has much less than that. Wheeler has some good fish in it, including smallmouth, but I'd rather fish the big G any day for largemouth bass. Wilson, on the other hand, has a great population of big smallies and "heads", but the bite is very much current driven. Be sure to check with TVA to find out if they will be generating before planning a trip there. Here's the website ... you can choose which reservoir you want to fish.
