We will be down on Wed. I would like to try for some crappie while we are there. Any suggestions?
I generally don't crappie fish much in the spring .... just can't leave those big ol' green fish alone. I've had good luck around Jackson County Park in Scottsboro, but you'll have to fish in the weeds to catch 'em. The marinas from Guntersville to Scottsboro also hold some good crappie. You've just got to find the right dock or pier that's been "doctored up" with hay bales or Christmas trees. I like to use 4# mono and 1/32 oz jig heads with 1 1/2" Bass Assassin bodies or other similar plastic minnow bodies. Guntersville has some "slabber" crappie in it. It is full of 2 - 2 1/2 pound black crappies ... you can drop a 12 oz soda can in their mouth while holding them by the lower jaw.
