Thumbs up Off Topic - Turkey Hunting

Since we couldnt get out fishing, my son and I went Turkey hunting, youth weekend. He killed a 26lb 4oz beautiful Tom, 10-1/2" beard, 1-3/4" spurs. From what we gather, thats the equivelant of catching a very large bass. It was very exciting for both of us. We dropped it off at the taxidermist Saturday, to have a full strut mount done. Cant wait to get it back, the bird was beautiful, until it lost its head, the taxidermist has to use a spare head, since my son blew his off, and im not joking, there was hardly anything left but skin. PETA would of been proud.

Congrats as that is one monster of a bird! That one will be hard to beat, especially the spurs. Sounds like some major hooks! I took my son this weekend as well and he killed a 22lb, 10" beard, 1" spurred gobbler yesterday. It came in strutting!

    Congrats again!

i have seen hundreds this past weekend around boston, the extreme high water has them, and the deer run to high ground,,would been some easy hunting.

Yea, i beat it lost 1/2lb of head matter, its amazing that those things will still flop around for a couple of minutes even without a head. Rangerman congrats on yours as well, ours came in strutting too, its very cool to see them puff up like they do, and the noises that they make. Our was chasing two hens, that came up first, and he came right behind him. I enjoy the hunting more than the killing, but my son enjoys it so i take him every year.

I heard majority of taxidermists are going to resin replica heads anyway. Don't have to freeze dry them and wait a year that way. They look pretty good really.
