I caught this one this afternoon. I caught 11 crappie today ranging from 11" to 9" in length. All were full of eggs which appear to be ripening.
I put some of them next to this fish but they are hard to see or recognize.
I'll have to get my film camera out to take good pictures. I took this picture with my little cell phone camera so it's not very good.
First Picture is a nice crappie which is about 11" long. The second picture is the three larger crappie that I caught this afternoon. I ended up with 11 fish total but the other 7 fish were all 9" in length. I didn't take a picture of the smaller fish though. The second picture was taken looking down inside my new 5 gallon plastic bucket. You can see that the 11" crappie goes all the way acoss the bottom of the bucket.
These are not that big but they are good for Otter Pit. Normally the crappie at otter pit run around 9" or so. So a big crappie there is about 12". I have caught a few 12" long crappie last fall. That was the first time I have caught any numbers of 12" long fish.
I had a good time and this was my first time out this year.
