I haven't been this year but in the past we always used little in line spinners (roostertails) in pink, green and black. Never had a problem in getting a limit.

I am heading to Cumberland this weekend and was going to try to drift the river for trout. Any advice on baits or techniques would be helpful.

If you're fly fishing, try #16 & 18 beadhead prince, pheasant tail, or copper john nymphs. Bait fishing, try red Berkley power dough. Spin fishing, try panther martin in line spinners in gold or brown trout, and yozuri pin minnows in the slow water stretches worked very fast and erratically. Gluck.
Stop at Strange bait in Burkesville, get a few blue fox spinners too. 3-4 size.
