Sounds like the rectifier is bad. Get it checked out bad recitfiers and problems with the charging system can cause fires. Is the Tack working? Weird readings on the tach ususally mean a rectifier is bad.

I have a 93 Force motor that will not charge the battery, it runs fine but voltage gauge never goes over 11 V. I have a manual and did some testing but need some expert advise. I have read the voltage coming off my stator and I am only getting between 6 and 7 volts. I would guess that is my problem but wanted some advice before I spent the $200 for a part I may not need. Any advice would be greatly appreciatted.

I checked the rectifier according to manual, and it checks out good. The tach is still working also. Any other suggestions?
