    Cave Run Lake

Has any of you fine gentlemen fished the Cave lately for bass and if so could you help a brother out? Going in blind and would just like to know what to expect. I'm all about catch and release as you all know. Thanks in advance for any 411.

Its big, crowded, windy usually and rougher than hell out in the main channel.

As for the bass, try a t-rig with 1/4 oz bullet and brushog or paddle tail worm in junebug or watermelon/ red flake. Sit your boat in about 30 ft of water off points (main or 2ndary) and bring your rig off to the side of the point. Good luck man.

    Are you daytime fishin?

Is it true that you can camp on any of the islands at Cave Run? I'm looking for boat access camp sites/beaches... Any help would be appreciated.... Not trying to hi jack the original thread...

Try Clay Lick Campground. YOu can boat right up to it. Its primative but accessible.

Night bassing can be pretty good. Fish the banks close to the river channel with plastics and a blacklight

    Re: Cave Run Lake

Fished about 3 hours yesterday evening and maybe saw 3 other bass boats. Weekends are really tough though as it gets quite a bit of pleasure traffic. Caught 6 with 4 being in the slot (13-16in.) and 2 unders. Fished last Friday and had one 5-13 but nothing to go with it. They seem to be starting to settle now on the deeper grass edges (10-15ft.) on the main lake. Good Luck

water temp is up well over 80 and bass and musky have slowed considerably, try deep running crankbaits and carolina rigged plastics in deep water, as far as camping claylick and zilpo are the only two spots I know of to camp, and i can't think of a single island on cave run....

No islands on Cave Run but during the week you'll have lots less traffic. Lots of townies and Buckeye people on the weekends.

Fish points and deep waters this time of year.

    My home town! Love it!!
Now in Frankfort tearing up Elkhorn creek. tons of fish wish and every know and then a lunker!

    fish hard!
