Power trim?

Do you have to trim your motor up or down when checking the power trim fluid? Second when I trim my motor down some times it was smooth going down the past weekend, and sometimes it was jerky. What could be problem? Thanks.

I had the same problem with 85hp Force, I lowered the unit and added fluid and the issue was corrected...lol
