Guist Creek is one of only 2 places in the state that has White Cats. If you'd never this kind of cat before that would be my guess.
White cats are grayish or more of a white color. It hard to tell without pictures. It sounds like a a young channel cat they will be brown with a lot of spots on them, or a baby flathead. What color was its belly yellow or white. There are alot of the little spotted channel cat caught out of Otter Creek they are 8-17 inches long. If you get another one take a pic of it.
the belly was a white color the fish didnt have any spots on it

You're right, there aren't flatheads there. It sounds to me like you caught a white. White cats are kind of a dark gray, almost like a shark, on the side, and white on the bottom, with a broader head than a channel. And they don't have spots on the side like channels do. I'm almost positive there are only channels, bullheads, and whites in there. State record bullhead and white both came from that lake, BTW.
hey thanks guys hopefully it wasnt a state record because tha fish is already filleted. I am going to have to watch for these fish in the future over at guist creek..

If it was a White catfish, it would have to weigh 2lbs or more to be a state record.
Here's the scoop on Guist Creek's record White Catfish --- from 2004 :
.................................................. ..................................
Another record catfish bit this past May. Charlie Crain of Shelbyville still fished a night crawler at Guist Creek Lake on May 3 when an unusual catfish struck his line. It is now the state record white catfish.
Kentucky possesses small populations of white catfish. Native to the Atlantic coastal streams such as the James River in Virginia, a population of white catfish swim in Guist Creek Lake.
Crain’s record white catfish weighed 1.82 pounds. It was 16 inches long with a girth of 8.6 inches. It bested the old record of 1.78 pounds caught by Stephen Daisey from Guist Creek Lake in August, 2002.

Now, with that being said ... KDFWR has netted a 8lb White Catfish, from Guist Creek, back in 2007 (I think) .... so there's still an opportunity to get on the record books.
The state record Bullhead came from there, also ... over FIVE POUNDS.
