    Fishing Lines Compared

I came across another fishing line test. This guy tested a bunch of monos and copolymers for line strength. Here's the link if you are interested...

That was a very interesting test -- thanks for sharing. P-Line showed to be heads above the rest but when I had used it for a time a few years ago I didn't like it well because it didn't seem to be very abrasion resistent. Strong as all get out on fresh line and fresh tie but after knocking on brush and rocks for a bit it didn't seem to hold up (my experience).

Anyone know who makes Cabelas ProLine? That has been my staple for several years now. I am sure it is not the "best" line out there but it performs well for me and is priced reasonably. I never have figured out who makes the line for them though.

Thanks, glad you liked it. This one wasn't as thorough as the flourocarbon test that's been posted on here before. That one dealt with a lot of different characteristics (strength, abrasion, etc.) This one was just a strength test. So I guess that's just one part of what it takes to be a good line. As far as the pline, I thought it was interesting that the Cxx and Evolution scored really good, but the Fluoroclear was way down the list.

Hate to say it but, you have to remember that Pline is about the same diameter as mono which is greater than the rest of fluorocarbon.
