NEMO, NEMO, I am not "finding Nemo". J/K that is pretty cool. How come whenever I get & have an aquarium it never looks that good? It always looks like crap.
It just takes a little maintenence a few times a week, like i need something else to do!It was supposed to be a kentucky native fish tank but ended up being an african cichlid tank.LOL I talked the wife into getting one by saying i was buying it for her so there was the change.I like the cichlids though and if i get a bigger house and at least a 125 gallon tank ill do the native tank.
Nice tank John, You down this Fri. ??? SHARK BAIT who haha!!! Chuck
John,
I kept our tank for about five years and your right it takes time to keep it looking as good as yours. We always had fancy tail guppies and that would have been bait for those cichlids.
Im going to try,i doubt ill stay out real late because i got something to do sat. morning. There calling for rain fri. and sat. so well see.Sharkbait????around there you have to worry about the Q-baits.lol
John, you keep fish too? When I get off work I will post some pictures of some of my past and present fishies.
Keeping rare and exotic fish is kind of an addiction of mine. My wife gets mad when I have a few fish swimming in my tanks worth more then her car! haha
My most expensive one in the tanks cost me 20.00.That about my limit unless i find a really good one for 40.00.Im wanting to set up another tank now but my wife says theres no room-or more like"Where we gonna put the Christmas tree"lol. Its kind of another addiction for me ,i always want to get another one to have something else to look at.Ive maxed out this one with 9 cichlids,2 clown loaches,2 eels,1 rainbow shark,1 asian catfish and 3 algea eaters.Ive got about another six months and ill be forced to get another tank or get rid of a couple-which i would hate to do.
I spend about 3 hours here and there a week on it,it can be a pain when i get busy but its nice to look at.Nothing wrong with those fancy tail guppys Don my fish love em mmmmmmmmmmmmm.lol.j/k
What size tank is it? The bigger the tank the easier to maintain. I use to keep fresh water stingrays which or one of the hardest fish to keep and I did maybe 30 minutes of work a week on the tank, not counting feeding. Hand feeding the rays was part of the fun!
I hand feed my eels,i could hand feed all my fish im sure.I do two to three water changes a week on 2 different tanks, that where most my time goes. Then p.h,ammonia, nitrate and nitrites checks and adding chemicals and gravel cleanup. Now whether it really takes me exactly that long i dont know, feels like it.Maybe im just slow.lol
Actually its the gravel. Go bare bottem or sand tank. SO much easier. All you need to do is siphon out the water and refill, no need for "vacs". Do you have a python water changer? They help out a ton too and totally worth the money!
