    Defination of a Hero

Take a minute today fellas and think about the surviving families of the 9/11 tradgedy. Say a prayer for them as they must live with this everyday. I also think often of those brave ones that took the plane down and that chilling cell phone call when he said, ''Let's roll''. Those individuals were the true meaning of being a hero. Not only did they stop those towell head ********, but who knows how many lives they saved that day with the only choice they had. God Bless those people, all the policeman, fireman, their families and God Bless the U.S.A.

    Re: Defination of a Hero

    Mark,

I totally agree. This is always a hard day for me. Remembering all that unfolded right in front of my eyes on the T.V. set. After working the third shift, I was sitting in the drive through line at McDonalds that morning, 2 vehicles in front of me to place an order, the radio D.J. stopped the song, right in the middle of it, and said that a plane just hit the World Trade Center.
Why is it that everytime something comes on T.V. about this horrible day, I am glued to it, I can't stop watching it. Me & my wife was talking about this the other night. DJD had a post the other day when there was a show on natgeo, that I also watched & recorded to watch later, when there are no kids going "Dad, what time is it, is it bed time yet?"
Sorry, I had to tell someone some of this stuff. The wife, like most, don't listen to me.
I pray for those that lost their lives that day & their families often & will continue to do so.
This is just a few of my thoughts.

Thank you Mark for starting this post.

    I WILL FOREVER REMEMBER......
and don't forget those of us who have lost loved ones in the wars that are a result of 9/11. I remembered ALL those people when I awoke this morning; my brother was a victim of the War in Iraq, (he died on my daugher and my elder brother's birthday), and I live with the 9/11 memories every day.

Please indulge me for a moment to tell my story. In Feb. 2001, my brother who was in the Air Force, called me one night. It was short and to the point. He simply said, "I need your prayers; am being sent to Saudi Arabia tomorrow and, from there, to Oman. That *******, Osama bin Laden, has put a $4 million bounty out on my plane. We are being guarded by six fighter jets but, as good as they are, he could still get a hit and bring the plane down." This happened 7 months BEFORE 9/11 and our government knew about OBL at that time and did nothing. Later they put an $11 milllion bounty on his head which was a farce. When I received my brother's call, I had no idea who OBL was because he was seldom mentioned in the news. Nobody in the White House took his threats seriously, and thousands have died and others are still dying because of it.

There are ever increasing numbers of victims of 9/11 because of the health damage caused from exposure during that time, and the military personnel that continues to die in the wars. Even worse is the shame that Osama bin Laden is still alive 7 years later and still being protected, and it's not altogether by a bunch of rag heads.

I remember September 11, 2001 and I will be praying for families of those lost in 9/11 attacks, for the sick and suffering, and for all the families of both civilian and military heroes.

    Re: Defination of a Hero

Sept. 11th has become a very humbling and prayer full day. It's the only day of the year that alot of people remember why and how the war started, even if it has changed coarse to achieve other issues. There are alot of people,(my opinion) that do not see how our home front has been kept safe by keeping terrorism at bay to some degree. Yes prayers will be sent for those who perished, those who had loved ones perish, those who provided service at ground zero, those who are serving our country and have give their life to serve our country, those who make the decisions on protecting our country, and those who will pray about this today and go back to bashing it all tomarrow.
    Prayers sent!

Sad day indeed. I'm sorry to hear about your loss Bassin_Bug. You know right after 9/11 this country felt united....remember? All people were ready to fight back even if it was wrong it was almost like they woke a sleeping giant, what happened? I know we have the resources to level hiding places of these fools but we are to worried now of what other people/countries think of us. I'm sure the government doesn't worry what Bassin_Bug and thousands of other victims families think about them and as Americans we should be taken care of first. Who cares what Germany and France think! Since when did we run our lives based upon what these socialistic countries think?

Whew! Sorry I was getting off point there. My main point is it's sad that we all got attacked and I will always remember those who lost their lives as we had a family member lose their loved one in the towers as well. Don

bassin bug, for me it goes without saying, I guess that's why I didn't have it in my original post. I TOTALLY support our troops and I always will. I furthermore have no time for anyone that doesn't. I am sorry for your loss but rest assure it was not in vain as he is a fallen hero protecting the freedom and safety of our American brothers and sisters. Check out fisheaters post on Dear Mr. Obama, and that is exactly how all proud Americans should feel in my humble opinion. God Bless the Troops to and I'm sorry for not having them in my original post.

    Re: Defination of a Hero

I was up early this morning and saw live footage showing those twin beams of light shining straight up from Ground Zero. If that doesn't give you goose bumps and put a lump in your throat, nothing will.

Both presidential campaigns have been suspended for today, as they should be. I for one will take their lead, and refrain from making any political comments today, and just reflect on the fact that the only reason we're able to argue about politics, on this board or anywhere else, is because we live in the greatest country in the world.

    Well said RoadToad.

I once heard another person's opinion of what a hero is and they said doing ordinary things in an extraordinary time. Those people did extraordinary things in an unbelievable time.
