Pick you up a Fluid Bed. It makes the powder paint float on air. Heat and dip, Perfect coverage every time. Got mine off ebay aroung $50.

How do you keep your paint from dripping in the oven?

I have never used white but on regular jigs I have always taken a blow torch and held the jigs to the flames for a few seconds and then dipped them in the paint. Hang them up and let them dry. Once dried you put them in the oven and let them cure.

By the way, I see you are in Richmond? Do you pour your own standard jigs?

I use a candle. Can't get more low tech than that. Hold the hook in needle nose pliers, wave it across the flame for about 5-6 seconds, dip it and hang it. If it isn't smooth just move it across the flame till it is.

Same as others above. I heat with a torch then dip in the fluid bed in color of choice. I always clean the eyes prior to baking and then I've made some simple hangers from wire the I hang the jigs by the eye of the hook. These allows any excess to run down the shaft of the hook versus forming a drip on the heads if you hang them upside down.

Be careful if you try to reheat to reshape the heads because a lot of the time it will burn and bubble the powder paint.

When hanging jigs in the oven to cure (@ a temp of 325), how do you keep the weedless straws from melting?

Kerosene heater works great for me. It has a “hanging” rack built-in. While I’m in the garage working on “stuff”, I hang them from the heater for about 15 mins. Then using needle nose pliers take them off the hanger and powder dip them then place them back on the heater for about 15 more mins to harden. This works great for me. I can do about 50 or so at a time.

Wrap the weedguard in aluminum foil before you apply the heat. When curing use the lower temperature setting. Be sure to put the foil on straight or you will get a twisted weedguard.

I like epoxy paint. It is much faster and easer than powder paint.

I put some teflon tubing on the weedgaurd when curing, and lower the temp.

I heat the jig head with a lighter it takes a little practice to get the heat right to hot gets too much powder on not enough doesnt get enough powder on every after I dip it I tap it on the paint bottle a few times to shake off excess paint and every 10 dips or so I put the lid back on the powder and shake it a little to fluff up the powder after i get the powder on I bake them at 225 with the weed guard and 275-325 with out sometimes i just put the pin in and glue the weed gaurd in after i paint them I use christmas ornament hangers and hang them by the hook eye so paint doesnt run around the eye I also put a old cookie sheet or some foil in the bottom of the oven in case of drips when i get too much paint on I usually bake them for 15-25 minutes or when they gloss over plus 10-15 minutes
